Terms of Service

Agreement to Terms: By accessing or using any DuruApps application (FastTally, Hatim, or Community), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Duru Apps ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of our mobile applications: FastTally, Hatim, and Community (collectively, "Apps" or "Services").
Our Apps are rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. By creating an account or using any DuruApps service, you confirm that:
- If you are under 13 years of age, you have obtained verifiable parental consent to use this service
- If you are 13 years of age or older, you can create and manage your own account
- You have read, understood, and agree to these Terms
- You have read and agree to our Privacy Policy
- You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations
For Parents: If you are a parent or guardian creating an account for a child under 13, you are responsible for supervising your child's use of our Apps and agree to these Terms on their behalf.
2. Description of Services
DuruApps provides three mobile applications designed to help users track religious practices, manage community activities, and organize personal spiritual obligations.
2.1 Key Features
FastTally
FastTally is a mobile application designed to help users track fasting days, manage Ramadan fast debt, record makeup fasts, track menstrual cycles for fasting obligations, monitor makeup prayer counters, and visualize their progress through calendar-based interfaces and statistics.
- Calendar-based fasting day tracking
- Automatic debt calculation for missed Ramadan fasts
- Counter system for outstanding debt, makeup fasts, and extra fasts
- Period tracking with cycle statistics and Ramadan overlap calculation
- Prayer counter tracking for five daily prayers (Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha)
- Manual counter adjustments with history tracking
- Data visualization through charts and statistics
- Multi-language support (English, Arabic, Turkish)
- Data export capabilities
- Cloud synchronization across devices
Hatim
Hatim is a mobile application designed to help users track and manage Quran recitation, Islamic book reading projects, and group-based Hatim (Khatm) projects for collective worship and spiritual organization.

Community is a mobile application designed to help users create and manage communities, organize events, coordinate volunteers, track volunteer hours, and facilitate community engagement through announcements and help requests.

2.2 Service Availability
We strive to provide uninterrupted service but do not guarantee that our Apps will always be available, error-free, or secure. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Services at any time without prior notice.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
To use our Apps, you must create an account using one of the following methods:
- Email and password
- Google Sign-In
- Apple Sign-In
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Ensuring your password meets security standards (if using email/password authentication)
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.
3.3 Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the App (Account Settings → Data Management → Delete Account). Upon deletion:
- Your account will be permanently closed
- All personal data will be deleted within 30 days
- This action is irreversible
4. Acceptable Use Policy
4.1 Permitted Use
You may use our Apps only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree to use the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
4.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Services for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers
- Use automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to access the Services
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Apps
- Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Attempt to circumvent any security features
- Use the Services to harass, abuse, or harm others
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
- Collect or harvest personal information of other users
- Create multiple accounts to abuse features or circumvent restrictions
- Post inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content in groups, communities, or events
- Use the Services to spam, advertise, or solicit users
- Falsify event information, volunteer hours, or recitation completion
- Abuse reporting or moderation features
- Provide external links to malicious, phishing, adult content, gambling, or illegal websites
- Use external links for spam, advertising, or fraudulent purposes
- Provide broken, misleading, or deceptive external links or image URLs
- Share copyrighted images or content without proper authorization
- Use the sharing functionality to distribute spam, malware, or harmful content
Violation Warning: Violation of these prohibited activities may result in immediate account termination and potential legal action.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
5.1 Our Rights
All DuruApps applications, including all content, features, functionality, software code, design, graphics, and user interface, are owned by Duru Apps and protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
You acknowledge that:
- We retain all rights, title, and interest in our Apps
- The App names, logos, and branding are trademarks of Duru Apps
- You acquire no ownership rights by using the Services
5.2 Your Rights
You retain all rights to the personal data you input into our Apps (fasting records, period tracking data, prayer counters, counter adjustments, recitation records, project data, event information, community posts, announcements, help requests, notes, preferences, etc.). By using the Services, you grant us a limited license to:
- Store and process your data to provide the Services
- Back up your data for redundancy and recovery
- Perform calculations on your data (e.g., period cycle statistics, Ramadan overlap calculations, recitation progress, volunteer hours)
- Display your content to other users when you share it in groups, communities, or events
- Use anonymized, aggregated data for analytics and service improvement (sensitive health data like period tracking is NEVER included in analytics)
This license terminates when you delete your account, except for data retained as required by law.
5.3 Feedback
If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas about our Apps, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use such feedback without any obligation to you.
6. User Content and Data
6.1 Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the data you enter into our Apps, including fasting records, period tracking information, prayer counters, recitation records, event information, community posts, announcements, help requests, and volunteer hours. We do not verify, endorse, or assume responsibility for user-generated content.
FastTally - Period Tracking Disclaimer: FastTally's period tracking feature is for personal organization purposes only. It is not a medical device and should not be used for medical diagnosis, contraception, or fertility planning. Consult a healthcare provider for medical advice.
Hatim - Religious Accuracy Disclaimer: Hatim is a tool for personal tracking and organization of Quran recitation and Islamic practices. We do not provide religious guidance, fatwas, or authoritative Islamic rulings. Users should consult qualified religious authorities for questions about recitation obligations, proper recitation methods, and Islamic rulings. We are not responsible for any religious consequences of using this App.
Community - Event Information Disclaimer: Event information in the Community app is user-generated content. We do not verify the accuracy, safety, or legitimacy of events posted by users. You are responsible for:
- Verifying event details before attending
- Ensuring your own safety at events
- Confirming event organizer credentials and legitimacy
- Understanding that we are not responsible for event cancellations, changes, or issues
- Recognizing that attendance at events is at your own risk
6.2 Backup Responsibility
While we implement backup systems, you are responsible for maintaining your own backup copies of important data. We recommend using our data export features regularly where available.
6.3 Data Loss
We are not liable for any loss of data due to:
- Technical failures or service interruptions
- Your deletion of data or account
- Termination of service
- Any other cause beyond our reasonable control
7. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Key points:
- We do not sell your personal data
- Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- You can export or delete your data at any time
- We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and applicable data protection laws
8. Third-Party Services
Our Apps integrate with third-party services for authentication, infrastructure, analytics, and error monitoring:
- Supabase: Database and backend services (stores your account, app data, and user-generated content)
- Amplitude Analytics: Usage analytics and app improvement (receives anonymized usage data only - does NOT receive personal information, fasting records, period data, prayer counters, or recitation records)
- Sentry: Error monitoring and crash reporting (receives technical error data when crashes occur - we filter out all sensitive personal data before sending)
- Google Sign-In: Optional OAuth authentication
- Apple Sign-In: Optional OAuth authentication
- Expo/EAS: App distribution and updates
Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or policies of third-party services.
8A. External Links, User-Provided Content, and Sharing Features
8A.1 External Website Links (Community App)
The Community app allows users to provide external website links including:
- Event Signup Links: URLs to third-party event registration websites (e.g., Eventbrite, Google Forms, Zoom, custom websites)
- Community Website Links: URLs to official community websites or social media pages
- Event Flyer Images: URLs to images hosted on external services
8A.2 External Link Disclaimer and User Responsibility
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: When you click on external links within our apps, you will be redirected to websites not controlled, owned, or operated by DuruApps. We are NOT responsible for:
- The privacy practices of external websites
- The terms of service of external websites
- The content, accuracy, or legitimacy of external websites
- Any data you provide to external websites
- Any charges, fees, or transactions on external websites
- The security or safety of external websites
- Any damages, losses, or issues arising from your use of external websites
Before clicking any external link, you will see a disclaimer in the app informing you that you are leaving DuruApps and visiting an external website. By clicking "Continue," you acknowledge that you understand and accept these risks.
We strongly recommend:
- Reading the privacy policy and terms of service of external websites before providing personal information
- Verifying the legitimacy and safety of external websites
- Exercising caution when providing payment information, personal data, or sensitive information to external sites
- Ensuring external websites use secure connections (HTTPS) when handling sensitive information
8A.3 Community Organizers' Responsibilities
If you create events or communities and provide external links (signup URLs, website links, or image URLs), you agree that:
- Link Safety: You are solely responsible for ensuring external links are safe, legitimate, and appropriate for your community members
- Terms Compliance: You will comply with the terms of service of any external website you link to
- Privacy Protection: You will only link to websites that have adequate privacy protections and do not engage in harmful data practices
- Accuracy: You will ensure links are accurate, functional, and lead to the intended destination
- Updates: You will promptly update or remove broken, expired, or inappropriate links
- No Malicious Content: You will not link to websites containing malware, viruses, phishing attempts, or illegal content
- No Prohibited Content: You will not link to websites containing adult content, gambling, hate speech, or other content prohibited by these Terms
- No Spam or Scams: You will not use external links for spam, advertising, pyramid schemes, or fraudulent purposes
Violation of these responsibilities may result in immediate removal of your content and termination of your account.
8A.4 Event Flyer Images
When you provide a URL to an event flyer image:
- The image must be hosted on a publicly accessible external service (e.g., your website, Imgur, cloud storage with public sharing enabled)
- You are responsible for ensuring the image URL remains accessible for the duration of the event
- We store only the image URL, not the actual image file itself
- We do not have control over externally hosted images
- If the external hosting service removes the image or changes the URL, the image will no longer display in our app
- You must have the right to use and display the image (no copyright violations)
- The image must not contain inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
8A.5 Content Sharing Features
Our apps include sharing functionality that allows you to share events, communities, announcements, and Hatim projects using your device's native share capabilities (iOS Share Sheet or Android Share menu). When you use the share button:
- How Sharing Works: The app generates a shareable text message or link containing the title, description, and/or details of the content you're sharing. This uses your device's built-in sharing system.
- Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for what you share and with whom you share it. Consider privacy implications before sharing content containing personal information or sensitive details.
- No Tracking: We do not track what you share, with whom you share it, or through which channels (text message, email, social media, etc.). The sharing happens entirely through your device's native functionality.
- Third-Party Platforms: When you share content to third-party platforms (WhatsApp, Facebook, email, etc.), those platforms' terms of service and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for how third-party platforms handle shared content.
- Shared Content Visibility: Once you share content outside our app, it is beyond our control. Shared links or information may be viewed, copied, or re-shared by recipients.
- Public vs Private Content: Only share public event information or content you have permission to share. Do not share private group information, personal user data, or content marked as confidential.
8A.6 Our Rights and Enforcement
We reserve the right to:
- Remove external links that violate these Terms or are reported as inappropriate
- Disable external linking functionality for users who abuse it
- Investigate reports of malicious, fraudulent, or inappropriate external links
- Terminate accounts that repeatedly provide harmful or inappropriate external links
- Modify or remove sharing functionality at any time
However, we are under no obligation to monitor, review, or verify external links provided by users. The responsibility for external link safety and appropriateness rests solely with the users who provide them.
9. Payments and Subscriptions
Our Apps are currently offered as free services. If we introduce paid features or subscriptions in the future:
- You will be notified in advance
- Separate payment terms will apply
- You will have the option to continue using free features or upgrade
- Your use of paid features will be governed by additional terms
10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
10.1 Service "As Is"
IMPORTANT: Our Apps are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Security or freedom from viruses or harmful components
10.2 Religious Accuracy Disclaimer
FastTally and Hatim are tools for personal tracking and organization. We do not provide religious guidance, fatwas, or authoritative Islamic rulings. The Apps' calculations and date configurations are provided for convenience only.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of Ramadan dates or Islamic calendar dates
- Period cycle predictions and statistics are estimates based on your recorded data and may not accurately predict future cycles
- Prayer time associations with period start/end are user-entered and for personal reference only
- Quran recitation tracking, portion assignments, and completion records are for personal organization only
- We do not verify the accuracy or authenticity of recitation completions
- Users should consult qualified religious authorities for questions about fasting obligations, prayer requirements, rulings related to menstruation, recitation obligations, and proper Quran recitation methods
- We are not responsible for any religious consequences of using these Apps
10.3 Health and Medical Disclaimer
FastTally is NOT a medical application. The period tracking feature is for personal organization only and should not be relied upon for:
- Medical diagnosis or treatment
- Contraception or birth control
- Fertility planning or pregnancy prevention
- Detection of health conditions
- Any medical decision-making
Period cycle predictions are statistical estimates based on your past data and may be inaccurate. Many factors can affect menstrual cycles including stress, illness, medication, hormonal changes, and other health conditions.
Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, contraception, or fertility planning. If you have concerns about your menstrual health, consult a doctor.
10.4 Event and Community Disclaimer
Community is NOT responsible for user-generated events or community activities. Event information, community posts, announcements, and help requests are created by users, not by DuruApps.
- We do not verify event details, locations, times, or organizer credentials
- We are not responsible for event cancellations, changes, or inaccuracies
- We do not guarantee the safety or legitimacy of events
- We are not liable for any issues, injuries, damages, or losses occurring at events
- Attendance at events is entirely at your own risk
- We do not verify volunteer hours or task completions
- Community owners and admins are responsible for moderating their own communities
- We are not responsible for disputes between community members
- External Links: We do not verify, monitor, or endorse external event signup links, community website links, or event flyer image URLs provided by users. You visit external websites at your own risk.
- Image Content: We do not host, review, or verify externally hosted images. Users are responsible for ensuring image URLs lead to appropriate, legal, and safe content.
- Shared Content: When users share events, communities, or announcements using the device share button, we are not responsible for how that content is used, distributed, or viewed by recipients.
Always exercise caution when attending events organized through the app. Verify event details independently, inform others of your plans, and prioritize your safety. Before clicking external links or providing personal information to external websites, verify the legitimacy and safety of those websites.
10.5 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DURU APPS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
- Cost of substitute services
- Business interruption
- Personal injury or property damage
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU (IF ANY) FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
10.6 Jurisdictional Limitations
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Duru Apps, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use or misuse of our Apps
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another party
- Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Content you post in groups, communities, events, or announcements
- Events you organize or attend through the Community app
- Any disputes with other users
- External links you provide, including event signup URLs, community website links, or event flyer image URLs, and any harm caused by those external websites or content
- Externally hosted images you link to, including copyright violations, inappropriate content, or broken links
- Content you share using the device share button, including any privacy violations, copyright issues, or harm caused by shared content
- Your use of third-party websites accessed through links provided in the app
- Any data you provide to external websites or services linked from the app
12. Term and Termination
12.1 Term
These Terms remain in effect while you use any DuruApps service.
12.2 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through the App settings.
12.3 Termination by Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Services:
- For violation of these Terms
- For fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- If we cease operations
- For any other reason at our sole discretion
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you, but are not obligated to do so.
12.4 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Services immediately ceases
- Your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (e.g., disclaimers, limitations of liability) will remain in effect
13. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify you through the Apps or via email
- Provide a summary of material changes
Your continued use of our Apps after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Services and delete your account.
14. Dispute Resolution
14.1 Informal Resolution
If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at [email protected] to attempt to resolve the issue informally.
14.2 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
14.3 Arbitration
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules, except where prohibited by law.
14.4 Class Action Waiver
You agree that any arbitration or proceeding shall be limited to the dispute between you and Duru Apps individually. You waive the right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative action.
15. General Provisions
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Duru Apps regarding our Services and supersede all prior agreements.
15.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
15.3 Waiver
No waiver of any term shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term.
15.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
15.5 Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure to perform due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, or internet failures.
15.6 Export Control
You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations. You may not use or export our Apps in violation of any applicable laws.
15.7 Language
These Terms are written in English. Any translations are provided for convenience only. In case of conflict, the English version shall prevail.

BY USING ANY DURUAPPS SERVICE (FASTTALLY, HATIM, OR COMMUNITY), YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ THESE TERMS OF SERVICE, UNDERSTAND THEM, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THEM.
